What is Amorolfine? Amorolfine is an antifungal nail lacquer used specifically to treat fungal infections in nails. It contains the active ingredient amorolfine hydrochloride that combats a large variety of fungi that can cause infection by disrupting its growth. How should I use it? The affected nail should be filed down as much as possible and cleaned with a swab to remove any grease. Apply the gel to the entire affected nails with the provided spatula once a week without wiping the excess gel off the spatula on the side of the bottle. Allow the gel to dry for approximately 3 minutes before cleaning the spatula with the swab used before to clean the nails. Be careful to not use the same nail file for healthy nails and avoid using artificial nails and nail varnish during the treatment. Amorolfine is available to buy in a 3ml or a 5ml pack size. Curanail over-the-counter treatment is only suitable to treat up to two infected nails at a time whereas the generic Amorolfine 5% Nail Lacquer can be prescribed to treat multiple nail infections at a time. How long does it take to work? Treated consistently without any breaks, the treatment of affected fingernails should continue for around 6 months while any affected toenails should be treated for 9-12 months, until the nail is regenerated and completed cured. The treatment should be reviewed by a doctor every three months to ensure the treatment is being effective and should be continued. Does it have any side effects? Amorolfine can have some side effects including broken, brittle, and discoloured nails.
